How it is made

1. The artwork

Each design starts as a digitally created image — generated with image software, not painted. We then do the part that decides whether it is worth selling: check the subject is actually what it claims to be, correct the tone and colour, crop it square to the frame, and discard the ones that did not come out. A large share never make it to the shop.

We also check what is in the picture. No recognisable people. No characters, logos, badges or artwork belonging to anyone else. No invented signatures — if the software scrawls something that looks like one, that design is cropped or dropped.

2. The print

Printed to order in the United Kingdom on heavyweight matte art paper. Matte rather than gloss because a framed print behind glazing picks up every reflection, and gloss paper doubles them.

3. The frame

A slim wooden moulding in black, white or natural oak, glazed at the front. The hanging fixture is fitted before it is packed, so there is nothing to assemble and nothing to buy separately.

4. The packing

Corner-protected and sandwiched in rigid board. If it still arrives damaged, send a photograph and we remake it at our cost — see returns.

Why made to order

Because the alternative is guessing which thousand designs to keep in a warehouse, and being wrong. Making each one after it sells costs you a few days and means we can offer a far wider range than a shop holding stock. It also means nothing is ever "out of stock" — if it is in the shop, we will make it.
